Cosmetic Bonding

WE CREATE HAPPY, HEALTHY SMILES

Do you have small gaps between your teeth, but you’re not sure you are ready to make a commitment to veneers or full coverage crowns?

Or perhaps you have that one tooth that drives you crazy by its funny shape?

Cosmetic bonding is a procedure that we use at Lake Harbour Dental as another option for patients wishing to improve their smile. The process involves the skillful and artistic use of the correct amount and color of dental composite, which is a moldable material made from acrylic resins and fillers—all biocompatible. Dental composite may also be used to replace unsightly silver fillings that may show in your smile.

How does this procedure work?

During the composite bonding procedure, the surface of your tooth will be etched with a special gel, providing a better surface to which the composite can adhere. A bonding agent is then applied to the etched tooth surface and exposed to a special curing light that hardens and sets the material. The composite bonding material is often applied to the tooth in several thin layers until the desired shape, translucency and texture is achieved. The final step involves polishing and buffing the finished product to give the desired shape and a smooth finish.
